VooDoo3
The Best Little Band in Des Moines!

November 2007
The best little band in Des Moines, VooDoo3 is an explosive power trio featuring hard driving blues with a touch of rock and some funk thrown in for good measure.

The band started when three guys came together while playing at an open jam at a bar here in the Des Moines area. Originally called the Larry Chambers Band after their late drummer, Larry Chambers, VooDoo3 plays on in his memory with Reggie Upshur on drums behind frontman and charismatic lead guitar player, CC Stewart, with the ever funkadelic ET - Ernie Terrell - on bass. Each member of the band brings vocals to the table with a wide range and variety following in the footsteps of axes singers SRV, Albert King, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Junior Wells.

What makes this band so unique is that they often play outside their element - and do it well - to say the least. With the ability to cover just about any song from Whitesnake to Johnny Cash, they're quite comfortable walking into any unknown venue.

"We're crowd pleasers," says frontman CC Stewart. "We're just now laying down our originals, but we look at our covers as artistry as well. I would say without a doubt, that VooDoo3 has a creative element in our sound. We listen to each other and play off of each others moods and ideas. We might find several different ways to perform one song. Ernie may lay down a different feel, even if subtle, and Reggie will compliment that every time. It makes for magic."

Why VooDoo3?
Ernie brought the Kenny Wayne Sheppard song Deja Voodoo to the Jam one Sunday night in late 2005 and so we started playing it.  At the time, we were calling ourselves the Larry Chambers Band, for lack of a better name. Not to mention, we  were’t even officially a band yet - just five guys hosting a jam. It soon became apparent that three of us put out a better sound so we took a gig one night as a test. We realized that our combined vocals gave us a big sound. CC thought the song would be a cool name for the band and that is how it started. Since then, the name of the band and even one of the members has changed but the big sound and powerful vocals remain today.
